I was looking to port and polish my stock elbow since my truck is a work truck and not my personal. Has anyone done this and more importantly done this compared to the $170 aftermarket elbow. My last elbow question is anyone who has the elbow any compaints? seem do do what you were looking for?
While talking about intake and flow is there a way to increase the boost pressure with the stock turbo? Tightening a waste gate or anything? Thanks in advance.
you can get a sct from someone like matt at spartan, and he can do some little things to get a little more boost. But from what I understand the factory turbo is running pretty close to what is optimal for a factory setup, If you crank it up more it will get to the point where theres too much back pressure on the exhaust side of the turbo compared to what its putting out and It chokes off the motor. If you want more youll have to go with a different turbo.
Sorry never did the elbow mod, some people say they notise a diff, I personally cant see where youd gain much unless you have done ALOT more to the truck and your drag race it and are trying to squeez an extra 1/10 of a sec out of her.
Thanks for the info. With a claimed 10 hp gain,I can't imagine actual gains are too much but if I can invest an hour or two and gain 3-7 on my stock why not!
Why such a strong statement? I didn't say I would, and I am not going to, spend $170. It isn't worth it to me. This is a work truck but if I can spend some time porting the stock elbow with some bennefit, great. I AM ASKING PEOPLE WHO HAVE THE ELBOW what they think and if anyone has ported there elbow trying to gain the little edge.
