im not really sure, im going off of the numbers somone else calculated, i dont remember who did it
I pay about 9 cents per killowatt hour. but hey, ky has just about the cheapest electricity in the nation. cali. is about the highest I heard. I love my truck but they sure seem complicated to me. I am all over a gas burner, but new to the diesel.
Yes, I heard 1-1.5 dollars per day.
It only takes about two hours to get it as hot as it is going to get. It may get warmer, but I haven't noticed a difference plugging it in longer. It will start just fine after two and it takes 1/4 the electricity. The only time I leave it plugged in is when there is nothing else to take on fire calls.
Yeah, a couple of hours is fine. Put it on a timer and forget about it. A lady I work with has an Excursion and her boyfriend a F250 (both 7.3's). At the start of winter they were plugging them both in. The next month's bill was $60 higher compared to last winter.
I've heard from numerous people that if you buy a timer from lowes or home depot, and set it for 2.5-3 hrs before you have to drive it than it will be just fine. I've left mine plugged in overnight for 9 hours before and it started up like a champ the following morning. Although we don't get too cold here in SC....I think I plugged it up on an 18*F morning.
I'm still going to do the Marinco mod for my block heater so I can have a nice receptacle in my bumper for an easy plugin when I want to use it.
