Wow, that was a close call, it could have been much worse. I guess the sun blocked him seeing it head on, always a hazard snow driving.
That is one thing you have to be careful of driving through the woods in winter snow (one of my fav things to do), unseen wood coming through the floorboards. Always a worry in the smaller trucks, especially since they usually do not have the skidplating the bigger trucks do. Little help hitting stuff head on though.
Glad to hear there were people to help him, he might have died, and bring his Jeep home.
I guess the main lesson is to not wheel alone if possible, anything can happen and does.
OUCH!!!!!!!! That is the kind of stuff that we never think about while we are wheeling. Always prepare for roll overs abd stuff with cages. I have never concidered something coming thru the floor.
the scary part of that is it came threw the firewall. no one ever plates the firewall. well untill now. ill be plating the firewall on the ranger when i get it.
I have never heard of anything like that happening. Glad he was ok. How many people have skid plates for their firewalls? I would et none Could happen to anyone, Jeep Chebby or Ford.
I saw something similar one time... a guy wandered off of the interstate (at 75mph) and jumped his Suburban over one of those turn-around humps in the median... landed on a reflecter pole that went up through the floor and back seat, scraping his sons (maybe 9 years old) leg. Damn lucky kid, cuz if he'd been about 8" left it woulda kabob'd him and stopped at about the kids adam's apple.
