I know there are alot of threads on here explaining the 05 to 07 headlight swap to the 99-04's. Alot of people have done it but have any of you completed the swap and installed a HID kit with the new headlights. Reason for asking is cause the initial conversion requires using a dfuser or similar style harness to change to the 9008 bulbs. The HID kits can be purchased for the 9008 or the 9007 bulbs but not from one to the other.
Any suggestions on changing to the newer headlights with 9008 bulbs but installing HID's?? Could I just cut the old 9007 plug off the factory harness and splice in the 9008 plugs?
I got a Xenon kit... cant remember the exact details. but it is totally plug and play with hi/low beams. super bright and works with the 05 headlights...
Layson- with the '05 style headlights, how'd you hookup the HID kit to the stock 9007 plugs? Did you use a harness like dfuser sells? Or something else to make the 9008 HID kit compatible with your existing truck wiring?

Thanks.
When I did the 05 headlights I also upgraded just the pigtails to the 05 lights and spliced them into the stock wire harness. But the HID kit just pretty much plugged right in to everything....even the bulbs just twisted right in just like stock... just had to hood a couple wires up to the battery.

Thanks!! Just what I was looking for. Where'd you get the plugs? Dealership? Online? What was the cost if you can remember?

I will have to send you the email of the guy I got them from. I think he knows alot more than me. He just told me what I needed and I bought it. I know it wasn't too much money either...
Layson- Got the email yesterday. Thanks! I've been looking more and more on here and hearing alot of talk about the HID Kits producing too much glare to oncoming traffic. This is because the stock headlight housing is not setup for HID lighting.
My truck's not lifted like yours, but it does have a 2.5" leveling kit so it's taller than a stock dually. Have you had any problems with people getting too much glare from your lights? I guess if you never drive towards it, you'd probably have no idea if it glares or not?!? That's my biggest concern right now, cause I don't want to bring any unwanted legal issues my way cause I'm blinding people on the roads! That's why I'm thinking of just doing the dfuser harness upgrade and getting Silverstars instead.
Any input would be great without starting a big war on here!
Honestly... You can adjust these headlights real good. I have yet to have one person flip there brights on me. I do live on a rural road with oncoming traffic...and I have had no problems.
When I first lifted my truck I didn't know how to adjust the lights....so everywhere I went somebody was flashing me... that was with the stock blurry 01 headlights without any brighter bulbs or harnesses...
