Fuel Selector Valve

Hello everyone,<O</O
<O</O

I have a 76' F-100, 1/2 ton, 2WD,360 5.9 liter. I am having a problem with the fuel selector valve. Cannot get fuel from the main or auxiliary tanks. For the time being I just bypassed the valve. But I would like to fix if possible. Any suggestions? A new one cost around 119.00 from LMC. I need the original because I think it also switches the fuel sending units for the fuel gauge.<O></O>

<O

All suggestions and help appreciated<O</O

First off please don't post with code.I can't read what you pasted it is too small

Contact Green sales an FTE sponsor.

Have you checked the ground strap for the circuitry. Connections rust up or away and next thing you know.,... No fuel delivery.

Sorry about that Mil1ion. I used spell check on word then copied and pasted to thread. Anyways, what do you mean by ground strap? There is only one female connector coming to the fuel valve. Do I need to check voltage from that female connector to ground? Does the fuel selector valve connect to the fuse box? On the fuse box it has a fuse location denoting aux. fuel tank. Ohmed fuse and it check out good.

thanks

Fuel selector valve looks nothing like that. It's mounted on the inside ot the truck fuselage. Can send pics of needed.

Thanks

Fuselage ?

You're thinking of the F-15

They were usually mounted along the frame or a cross member.

That was just for a visual as I had this illustration on my site already.

It is for a 78.

Post em if you have them. I got to figure out why my fuel selector or whatever it is is causing mine to not switch.

Maybe someone can figure it out.

Your problem may even be thw dash switch...

I think the solenoid valve has a failsafe that allows fuel only from the main tank in the event of a failure.

Mine quit working and I bought a new one from Ford which wasn't near as expensive as your part you found (maybe $35?); Went to install it and found the old one was fine, the ground wire had broken off from corrosion on the frame like Dennis said.
I replaced it anyway since the old one was getting rusty, but I kept the old one for emergency.
