Turn signal solved

I had asked for ideas on my turn signal switch replacement problem. I thought I would follow up for those that tried to help.

I had purchased a replacement from NPD and the color codes were an identical match to the original, however the signals didn't work. After a lot of wire tracing and head scratching over what did I do wrong I started checking the old switch. I took it apart to see what wires were connected in what switch posistion and found that even though the new switch wires were the correct colors they were all hooked to the wrong switch location.

If anyone else has this trouble in the future maybe this will help....

Hold the switch facing uo so the wires are out the side away from you and the curved side faces up.

The top cener wire goes to the brake switch. The lower center goes to the flasher

The top right goes to the right rear tail light. The top lower goes to the right front turn signal.

The top left goes to the left rear tail light. The left lower goes to the left front turn signal.

This has been a big hold up while I figured this out, but were back on the road now thank goodness.

Also thanks to those that tried to help.

Jim

Color codes on the replacements are usually not correct. There should have been a color code sheet with it that clarifies what goes to what. I know I had that issue with my '67 when I put a new switch in it a few years back.

Glad you got it rectified!
