Alternative to Excursion

Alton's offering sets new standards for conspicuous consumption

While most automakers are jumping on the trend of smaller, more fuel-efficient cars, Alton Manufacturing has taken the opposite route. They've created a whole new vehicle category with their extreme-SUV variant, the "XUV"

The XUV weighs in at an eye-popping 13 tons, and includes such features as hardwood floors, a 42 inch plasma TV, two smaller drop-down TVs, a 42-speaker sound system, custom captain's chairs, and four computer workstations.

Oh, and a train horn too ... in case someone doesn't see you coming.

Based on a modified Ford F-650 platform, the XUV is powered by a 7.2L turbocharged diesel engine built by Caterpillar. The purchase price will set you back nearly 200 gran, a figure that likely pales besides the estimated annual fuel bill.

Autoblog has a short video of Alton's XUV up on Youtube.

In the video.... I sure would like to find that piece of fiberglass they show running from the center console to the dashboard.

It's exactly what I have been looking for to install UHF, VHF and trunking radios in.

For $200k, I'd expect a bit more attention to details like making the gap between the front-bumper and the grille vary less than, say, 2" from one side to the other...

I would also expect them to take those cheesy f150 head lights off and put real ones on. Also, one would expect them to use digital climate control (like the 02-05 trucks). But instead for 200k, u get the climate controls out of the 00 to 01 ex's.

Also does that thing even have a hitch? BTW, one thing i like bout that truck is it comes with 08 mirrors and the fact that it comes with the cat diesel. But, didnt cat update their diesel to 300 hp? And this one has the 230 hp version
