Guys, I'm a looonnggg time lurker 'cause I have few issues that aren't resolved by searches. That said I read this site at least twice a day. Thanks for all the excellent info.
My 06 is going on 44000 trouble free miles with the only adds being a fumoto and an ezdown, both of which are life savers. I've never been flashed and when I romp on it I will leave everyone in a nice cloud of black smoke
It's time for tires on my stock 18inch rims. I tow a 3k trailer most of the time and a 10k boat about once a month. Mileage is 14.5 mixed with the trailer and 17 without. I'm leaning toward toyo A/T 285 75r18, about an inch over my stock conti's. The alternative is 285 65r18's, about an inch under stock.
Will I suffer from too much roll with the 75's on these rims? Any thoughts would be appreciated.
BTW, I'm not a painter anymore, any way to change my name?
alot of guys run toyos and alot of guys run bfg's its more of a personal prefrence... personaly I think toyo's are really soft so you wont get the mileage and I have always had great luck with bfg's....just my $.02
I have an 06' F-350 6.0,,am self-employed,,contractor/builder,,plow snow in the winter, truck came with the 18" Polished bullett holes wheels, and those contis,,This past fall I purchased a set of like new 17" take off's from an 07' F-250, and purchased 285/70/17 Hankook DynaPro RT03 tires,,(MT) yes there load range D,,8 ply, there still rated 3200 lbs each,,33" tall,,had them studded,,and they look similar to the BFG Mud terraines.
They work great,,some noise,,,I see they also made them in the 18" size, 10 ply, but were about $1000 bucks,,but when It's time to get rid of the contis,,I may go with these again,,just need to decide wheather I want MT's or AT's on the 18" rims for my summer tires.
I am wearing Cooper Discoverer STs (studded) in the winter and I have the same tire (unstuded) for summer. I love them. They handle the 10K camper in the summer real well, and the 18K snowmobile trailer in the winter. Great tires for plowing too.
hey MNM...I am interested in the Coopers myself for the old 01'. How well do they wear? Any problems with cupping or chopping? Noisy? How many miles do you have on your set? They really look like a nice tire but I haven't had a chance to talk to anyone that actually runs them on a super duty. I'm looking to get 285/75/16's to replace the 305/70/16's I've got now...the 305s are just wider than I think I really need...especially for plowing.
