I'm in VA and mine is 5yr/100,000 miles. It turns out my Geico insurance has an extended warranty plan for an add'l 2 years for about $86 a year ($602 total over 7 years) with a $250 deductible so I'm covered for 7 years/100,000 miles for less than any extended warranty plan I was offered which works for me b/c I only drive about 12K miles a year.
See if you can work something out with your insurance co.
What happens if you switch from the salamander in 5 years do you loose the two extra years???
All 6.4's PSD came with a 5year/100,000 mile warranty your dealer is feeding you a bunch of BS. IMO they want you to by the extended warranty. If you look at the owners supplment manual for the 6.4 diesel warranty you will see it is very clear that the 6.4's are the only engines that is offered with that warranty. The program is nation wide, cant say for trucks sold out of the states.
Yeah, up here in Canada it's the same just in metric (multiply by 1.6) 8 years/160,000km......
Jesus, Ladies slow down. The diesel is covered till 100k. Since it's not standard it does not list the 100k on the motor on the window sticker. 5yr 60k is for gas engines. 5yr 100k is for diesel.
well to answer your question, i wouldn't care if it had 60k or the 100k warranty, i'd get the extended warranty if you plan on keeping it that long. i never (i mean never) buy extended warranties on anything. but, with the possible issues of the new 6.4 (still teething) or any new motor, not to mention the nightmare of the 6.0, i would say $1500 is super cheap insurance. again, only if you plan on keeping the truck more than the original warranty period. you can have a bill of 3 or 4 times the $1500 in the blink of an eye on these things.
Not quite - 1.6 x miles to convert to 160,000KM but not time, still 5 years not 8
Yeah, I know I was just trying to stir the pot. I was wondering when someone was going to catch on to that.
I kinda figured it would be another Canadian.
on my last diesal i bought a extended warranty only to find out it expired at 60000 it wasnt 60000 after my original warranty was up it was 60000 miles so you better check that out.
Thanks Dale

I second this! - Its on all the commercials, big bold print on the website, and one of the big parts of owning this truck. If they dont give it to you they have some serious explaining to do, especially how they gave you an old manual as if they were trying to keepthe truth from you. BS
My 2 cents, maybe a little late, skip the extra warranty.
My thinking is this, and maybe a lot of the regulars in here will bear this out - you are going to want to chip your truck at some point & maybe add/do some other 'goodies' to improve MPG/performance that will Void these warranties anyway.
I haven't gone w/ the chip route yet, but gas prices going the way they have - it won't take me much longer. You let diesel hit $4/gallon and I wonder how many 6.4L owners are going to care about their warranty when they can get 3-5 more MPG per tank of gas?

Good point. The way diesel prices are going, at some price, voiding the warranty starts becoming cost effective.
