Big Project
I have a 1989 ford f150 custom long box reg cab with dual shocks up front, rides like a wooden wheel wagon. Its had a 302 5pseed its 4wd and has 35x12.5 mud terrains. I stole the motor out of the truck this winter. I also own a 1978 bronco. 400 4speed, t-18, 9 inch rear, dana 44 front. My plan is to take all the drivetrain out of the bronco, shorten the frame of the 89 truck and mate them to make a mean off roader. I want it tuff, reliable, and able to tow a car trailer. Now i was goin to build the 400 for about 450 hp and 500 torque. will the drivetrain handle that off road or do i want a little less power? as long as it will go threw mud, snow, climb over stumps and drive over curbs in town i'd be happy doesn't need to be a race car. whats a reasonable hp and torque number? Also i want to give the truck a bit more wheel travel and better trail manors ( the truck is already high enought just too stiff) ne ideas?
