Custom tunes first impression

I finally gave into peer pressure and gave Matt a call. Within 4 hrs I had my new tunes in my email inbox (AWESOME CUSTOMER SERVICE!) I got the Ultra comp for stock heads, hybrid race, general economy and aggressive tow. I have only had the chance to try out the ultra comp and hybrid race. I have a 2006 F250 with a manual tranny. Both seem faster than the canned performace tune. I did notice that it is a lot harder to shift with the ultra comp, it shifts really rough (w/ my manual) but im assuming that's from all the extra power. The ultra also was hard to keep the tires from spinning, but it has been raining today, so the roads are still a little slick. The hybrid seems like a better daily driver tune (but I will most likely be using the ulta comp as daily driver bc that's just how I am), and shifted a lot easier. IMO, it didn't seem like it pulled as hard until you had the pedal to the floor, where as the ultra seemed liked it pulled more even with 50-75% throttle. Even though it was dark, it seemed like the ultra smoked A LOT more than the canned tunes (which is a good thing, IMO lol). A car tailgating me was the unfortunate one to get smoked dumped on, and for about 2 seconds I couldn't even see their headlights.

Yeah.. You should be fine since yours is a Manual..

Course its easier to make smoke.. You can throw it in 3rd and chug it to just pour smoke.. Unlike me I have to play with the throttle coasting if I want to blow smoke.. Dont get me wrong, mash that sob to the floor and the stacks will pour... I do like the amount of smoke it lets out with the stacks... I'll get some video this weekend

I remember reading that the ultra comp is best when used with LSD, and the hybrid race is best when used with ULSD....is that still true? I have been fillin up with LSD lately, so i'm tryin to decide which file to use

I used to have a manual because of that reason above, but as soon as autos were more reliable for towing I got rid of the manual. I never did like all that shifting in town with a trailer attached. No fun at all.

that is why it's called a "hybrid" tune, at less that WOT it will fuel like an ASE street file and have excellent street manners, but when you drop the hammer it pulls from different fueling maps and will EMBARASS THE ULTRA COMP file..

yes , the hybrid race file is FASTER HOTTER BADDER than the ultra comp. you should use hybrid race as your daily file. egt's more manageable around town, and MORE power when you need it.. ultra comp is yesterdays news ..

or course it won't pull as hard as UC with 50-75% throttle, because that's how it's designed.. you will feel the difference when you start pushing the throttle to the floor. once you reach the "crossover" point it's night and day..

kind of like driving an acura GSR, and the instant power rush you get once the VTEC solenoid activates ...

storm, you can put your auto in 3rd also and do the same thing..
any time you have a file w/out boost reference for fueling, and you load the motor at a lower rpm than normal you will make plenty of smoke, automatic or manual..

I dunno.. like I told Matt on the phone.. My UC file runs WAY better than the HR even in WOT.. We thought maybe fuel issue down here but all that we are supplied is ULSD..

So still to this day, I pick UC over HR.. I just haven't seen the power at WOT that I see with UC..

Like they say.. Each engine is different LOL

Oh.. and with Ultra Comp I get 15.2MPG all the time (hard or granny driving) and with Hybrid Race I drop down to 12.1MPG..

All Hand Calculated.. I have a 1 year old record of every single fill up.. So my MPG is accurate.. Even with the big tires, I used a formula to determine the "Actual" odometer reading..

I'm eager to see his new file he has in the works.. I'll be testing that one next..
