i recently purchased a replcement speedo cable from green sales co.
one of the guys on here was nice enough to email me with the cable.
i emailed the guy from green sales and he gave me the connector end measurements and i compared them to my old cable. he also sent me a pic of the cable. today i recieved the cable and noticed that one end has a bracket and is just inserted into the tranny and held in place by the bracket and a bolt.
the old speedo assembly i took off of my tranny has screw on connectors on either end. i want to say that my truck has a warner/borg t-18 manual tranny in it. i say this because one of the guys told me that over and up on the stick is reverse. thats how i indetified the tranny. is this new speedo cable ment for a com tranny? do i have the wrong cable? maybe the previous owner had the wrong one on there. when i took the old one off it was threaded onto the tranny reciever. number dummy, did i order the wrong one? jeff
Have a 65 F100 4X2 w/ T18 and from what I recall there is a coupling that screws on the back of the speedometer. There should be a felt washer sets inside the speedometer housing lightly grease. The other end of the cable has a coupling and the speedometer gear is secured to the coupling with a 'C' clip. This coupling is inserted into the transmission casing and secured with a bolt. Only online Fords part supplier I could find w/ pic's is John's F100, for some reason can get site to post to thread. If interested go to John's F100 and scroll down to 'speedometer. As best as can recall, the cable on my 65 is like 'B', and the gear is like 'E'. In event should ever purchase from John's F100 is to call in advance to make sure item(s) in stock, back orders can take up to few days to weeks.
