Edge is Here - now a question

Edge Evolution arrived today. I will be putting in tomorrow. I have a couple of questions; If I really do not want to mount the pod can I plug to the OBD, program the PCM and then remove the pod and cables and store in dash. Obviously, I would not have the monitoring functionality and I am unsure as to what I will do but I wanted to know if I have this option. I think my answer is yes. But wanted to be sure.
I have read the entire manual tonight and installed Fusion Software on computer for future updates as needed. I plan to probably stick with level two and not do anything custom right now. Any tips or hints on pod install or programming would be appreciated. I have been reading all the threads related to the Edge and think I have a pretty good "forum education" on the Unit, but there are always those gotchas or duh happenings that others may have experienced and can give a precautionary word of wisdom.
Thanks
FTO

You're right, it can be disconnected.

Did you see if it needs updates? It may have sat in the box quite awhile and have updates available today.

I'd suggest making sure the edges of the pod that will be next to the A pillar are good and dull. I dulled mine beforehand, but I still mangaed to put some small nicks in the A pillar plastic when pushing it into place.

Yes...Update the edge before you install. I just installed on a couple of weeks ago and there was a update for it.
