i just finally got my body lift installed the other day and while i was under the hood i was looking at the intake the PO had rigged up. it looks almost like a factory scoop from a gasser ran over on top of the battery and then part of the underside of the hood is cut away along with part of the bug shield. where would be a better place to pick up a ram a from? i know hypermax has the cowl kit but i dont think im up for cutting into the cab like that. are there any points that air is forced into the fenders i could run say a 4' pipe to?
I use a ram air duct from behind the grill,(cut open slightly), deflects air up behind the light, plastic cut out to a larger duct under the hood, works well, no rain or snow issues. Click my name, view gallery, "lots of suck no blow"
Water runs downhill and folows the path of least resistance.
However a pump is required to make it run uphill.
The reason I say this is it does not take much fluid inside a cylinder to hydrolock the engine since piston to head clearances are so close.
Cranking an engine over with fluid in the cylinder can damage pistons, rods, cranks or head bolts.
There is no need to add the possibility of engine damage from something that is so easy to prevent.
The only time a low intake opening would be bad would be while driving through water that was deeper then the scoop was high.
I have found a light powdery snow will go up the intake and cover the filter with a layer of ice, which will then choke the air off.
But I also plow snow, so I may be out there driving in a snow storm for a couple days at a time.
The blade also has a lot of the light powdery stuff blow over the top of the blade, so that may make it worse for me than most people will ever see unless they also plow snow.

Thanks, I wont be seeing any snow until I move back home in a few years. I used to be on everyones speed dial to help pull rigs out of the snow.......no worries for now
