Hey guys,
I am working on a 76 f-250 4x4. It has a 390 with an edelbrock 600 cfm carb.
The problem is when you are driving down the road it acts like it is running out of gas or vapor locking. If you let off the throttle it will run again and as long as you are light on the throttle it will go but you can't get over 35 mph or it will cut out again. I have changed the fuel filter, fuel pump, carburetor, coil, plugs, wires, cap, and rotor, and still the same problem. I am stumpped any help is greatly appreciated. thanks to everyone, I love this website!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sounds like it is not getting enough fuel. Start back at the fuel filter and make sure it hasn't stopped up from dirt or rust from gas tank. Then work towards carb rechecking pump, float levels etc.
