Ok...hoping (praying) I'm near the end of my engine missing/performance problem, I'm starting to look ahead to my DP-tuner and Tranny work. Since I think I still have some life left in my existing tranny (truck has 200k, tranny has 75) I thought about just getting the BTS VB and putting that one first....then getting the DP-Tuner (tuned for the VB). BTS says I'll get credit for the VB if I ever buy a whole tranny from them.
So...two questions, I've seen the guzzle write up on installation and it looks pretty easy. Is it really that easy and I can do it?
Second...will I really notice a difference with the VB and will it potentially extend the life of my existing tranny?
I don't think you need a vb if you have a shift kit. Tell Jody what kit you have in there and he can go w that.
The VB is mindless to install. I just told a diff dude that a ten year old could do it! Can you run a ratchet in a completly open area with tranny fluid dripping in your eyes? Then you can handle it!
2nd Yes, You will notice a difference. The shifts are firm, but nice.
I would peronally go with the John Wood VB. Dennis at ITP told me you didn't have to have it specially built for the chip where the BTS you would want to have it set up differently. That way you can run the VB for years if you have to until you scrap up the $ for the DP Tuner.
REMEMER! Do your supporting mods first in the proper order and you won't end up respending money!!!
Scott has it right on. Do the supporting mods, then do the power mods. I know for my truck, the BTS-VB did make a difference in shifting. Put that with the DP and you have a great package.
The VB was very messy to install but very easy. Have a good torque wrench to torque the bolts.
