Well, me and my Dad just got through putting together a 91 F150 300/M50D that was given to us for $100 because nobody could get it to run, well after 5 years of sitting we broke into her, and found that some idiot did some head work on it and forgot to tighten the rocker arms down. Every single rocker was just about to fall off. So, I figured I would share the news.
I do have one question though, what could cause the temp guage to not work?

Bad sender, bad gauge. They aren't known for being very durable.
I'd ignore the factory gauge and install an aftermarket one. Probably cost less than replacing the factory gauge and will be more accurate.
Grats on getting her going. Are the rockers the only problems you had to correct?
