Red face Fuel Problem need fixing

Salutaitions,
i got problems with my truck i and think i can get er done but i wanted to get some more ideas. Therea a couple different symptoms but for the most part it seems like i have all the problems maybe it's a simple one. I have read up on the troubleshooting stages of the fuel system for airleaks using a hose and jar and am going to get into it tommorow.
so thanks. My questions. I recently had a wire harness fire and repairing all the smoked, old wires i found a more specific ARC fault, directly on the cold start soliniod. Since then has been disconnected and besides having a littel rough starts in the morning needing a little pedal pressure, ran fine. just now i read up that the cold start cyliniod also purges air form the injection pump. Iam goin to take off the Banks big metal airfilter thing and clean the cdr valve, and really get into finding an air leak.
I did run the truck out of gas but after filling it watched alot of air come out the shcrader valve and cracked 2 injectors. After this i road tested the vehicle and also have been noticing abrupt power increases which was actually a presymtom to all of this, a fast pick up. but anyway the truck was doing just fine about 55 then it started bucking and when i put it back into nuetral coasting it died. no electrical flickers. then it hada long cranking time which it eventually started but i had to maintain alot of pedal action to get it home without dyin at idle, and was bucking running rough. Also while holding my truck to the floor at stop signs getting home i noticed my turbo was much more clear and defined all of a sudden. seems like it wanted to clean it's self out t Just alot of checking out. thanks alot

i'll update around noon time hopefully to narrow things down. MUCH APPRECIATION!!! CASS LANCELIN

With the increase in power just before shutdown would indicate starving for fuel..... What is the fuel level on the tank selected anywhere near 1/4 tank.

air leak

it went to quarter tank when i switched it over. although before that it was below e. i filled up both tanks. Is there any way i can use one tank or does the sender unit just need to be replaced. Do i have to go into the gas tank or can i leave up in the truck. thanks cassidy

Yes I agree with the air in the system. With the fire did you replace all the fuel return lines and caps?? if not there could be part of the problem.

it was the gas cap. After putting everyhting back together without finding anything i decided to remove the gas cap. I hopped out as my truck was about to stall out and as soon as i pulled the gas cap off it came back to normal and drives smooth now.

The cap is fine.
There is a vent in the top of each tank that has a small rubber tube attached to vent the tank.

Mud can block the end of the tube causing the problem you have.

Stock caps are non vented.

Thumbs up starts runs for awhile and stutters, needs throttle to idle

starts runs for awhile and stutters, needs throttle to idle and will go for awhile slow then dies and is hard to start.

After posting the last add i had the same thing happen i can drive slow but when i demand fuel once i get out on the road it cuts out. any help.
i've done most of the tests and cleaned the vent. good filters. Also nothing comes out of the shrader valve expect a little burst of air, but when i tested to fuel pump it was good. narrowing it down....thanks
