I´ve got a 460 stock with a holley750 vac.
is the stock mechanical fuelpump a little smal or maybe mine is bad so the engine runs leean on higher rpms?
When i go with full trottle it starts to missfire after abaout
4sec. could that be the problem?
In that case what do you suggests.
May very well be the fuel pump.. Also check the jetting on the carb and the carb passages. Something may be clogged and restricting full flow at full throttle.
Also, check timing. If retarded, will cause that. Check that the vacuum line to dist is hooked up to correct port on Holley. Check the distributor itself. make sure the advance is working. I know, cause MY holley did that too! Check all this before fuel pump.

The distrubiator is new so I probably didnt get timing right. I heard some thing like 8-10 degree BTDC. where do it reach bottom 35 deg? I´m not sure about right vaccumport on the carb
I put it on a port that pointed forward lokated under the "floter house" is that the one?
The port for the distributor vacuum should be on the side of the carb above the throttle plate. With the vacuum at the bottom it advances all the time and could be your problem. I had that problem before. I don't know if your carb will have a vacuum above the plate are not. The only reason mine did is because I used a metering body off my old 390 holley. I am having the same problem as you right now. I will probably get back to you tomorrow.
MASK, On the holley, there will be 2 fuel bowls, or "float houses" as you seem to call them, one on front and one on back. on the left side of the holley (as you look at if from the front) there will be a little tube sticking out from next to that bowl, near the top. that is your distributor vacuum.
the tubes sticking out the bottom , UNDER the "float house", are your full-time vacuums. Do not hook your distributor up to those, they will make you run at full advance ALL the time.
66_F100, that may be your problem, but if it was running full advance all the time it would be knocking and pinging all the time instead of missing. When it misses due to timing, the timing is retarded. Just a thought, check the diaphragm on your distributor (if you havent...). Also, check the timing on the engine, and look at the timing marks when you rev the engine.. they should move significantly when you rev it.
Good luck!

Ok, that could be the problem. I have a vacuum port on the left side of the meteringblock, I try that one
Another problem I got is that the "timing scale wheel?!?" does not match reality. when the no 1 cylinder is at TDC it´s not even on the scale! could you mont this "Wheel" wrong?
remember, the piston comes up 2 times.. one compression, one exhaust. If you line up TDC on the "timing scale wheel", you will find that the piston IS at TDC... on the compression stroke. That is when it needs to fire. Unless you broke your crank key, then no, there is no way it can be put on wrong.

I had the same problem on my '82 F250 4x4, I changed fuel pumps, fuel lines, filters & etc. then I finally realized it was vapor locking when it got warm/hot. Re-Routing fuel line really helped, both lines, the one from pump to carb & the one from tank to pump. If you have aftermarket exhaust & headers it gets quite close to the original located fuel lines. If possible run aluminum fuel line, it disipates heat much faster.
