what to expect....?
It currently has a plow and a utility box on it, the box will be off as soon as I can find a decent deal on a replacement factory box.
I am purchasing this as a plow/work truck, and want to know what I can anticipate from it? Any hard lessons learned out there from anyone?
The truck was the only vehicle for the prior owner and it was his work truck so I feel safe that it was taken care of. Either he was a heck of a salesman or being honest.....
Also it has the manual locking hubs (thank god, vaccuum was the worst idea to date I think), can these be repacked? Seller is stating that he had them replaced, I always thought manuals could be rebuilt.
Possible (any truck this old. )
Brake lines. And clutch. Typical rust in rad support BAll jionts etc.
I'd rather have a manual (like u have hey its cheap to replace a clutch )when plowing . We have a 94 F350 4x4 we bought that plowed till 3 years ago have not even topuched the clutch and the new 04 F450 that replaced it with 20000 miles just pucked itsauto trans. trans.
Plus told me the name of the mechanic that did all the work and offered to take it down and have it inspected for me, to show it will pass with out issue.
Needs:
Valve cover gasket leaks, claims no other engine leaks, brakes, And check engine light came on when he started it up, claims it was not on prior to sitting I am trusting him on that one, assuming moisture in an o2 sensor kicking it on.
Could stand to have the box replaced, which I want to do anyways.
So any suggestions on my rebuild? I plan to start with the cab and doors and replace the panels.
Open to suggestions and ideas engine, suspension....
