There where wire chafing issues in 03-04 check the harness on the top of the motor near all the studs and also where it is routed across the valley next to the fuel oil filters.
call the dealer and give them your VIN# have them check the oasis report and see if your truck has had all of the TSB's (technical service bulletin, fancy word for recall) done to it..
there definitely was a wiring harness upgrade recall for the FICM. this is mounted on your driver side valve cover. about the size of paperback book, should be silver with heat sink fins on it. there is also your crank case vent filter on your driver side valve cover it's a black plastic box. http://www.backglass.org/duncan/ps60_manual/ps60_065.jpg
the above link is page 65 of the 6liter bible, if it's too small to read, move the pointer over the page for a second, and a box will popup near the bottom, click on this and it will enlarge the page for ease of reading. hope this helps..
I found what I was looking for.Broadcast message 0918/1374 wiring Harness Chafing. Some 03/04 trucks may exhibit a crank/no start, rough running, misfire, buck jerk or lack of power. This may be due to FICM harness chafing on a valve cover stud near the FICM.Other potential locations for chafing are where the harness routs past the EBP sensor. The belt ideler on the drivers side of the engine, the glow plug control module bracket on the passengers side of the engine and the accelerator pedal sensor wires at the steering colum(adjustable pedals only).Rerout and repair harness as necessarry.
