Don't know where Rincon in Orange County is at. We don't really have any trails worth doing that I know of. In city of Orange on Katella and Main is a large center. We go to the Acapulco's restaurant there. It has a large parking lot for lots of trucks in back. Plus it has movie theaters to keep the kids and SO's busy while we play truck. There is also a Chilis and seafood place there for those who don't like mexican food. In Buena Park on Magnolia and La Palma is a Don Jose's with a Keno's next door. In Brea on Harbor and Brea Blvd is a Sizzler with lots of parking on weekends. These are just a couple off the top of my flat head. I'll try and think of some more places and let you know. I'm guessing that we would want places we can eat, play truck and maybe has some alternatives for the family?
Rincon is in the San Gabriel Mts. - a fire road basically that goes from Sr 39 to Sr 2 just above Pasadena. We have not had a family scene at any of the meetings, probably because there have not been too many show up. That is not to say this is not a good idea, though. I know where that Don Jose's is, and that sounds like it might be a good place.
if its later in the day ill drive down...can probably call up a friend to crash at their place for the night...their are a couple places in OC to wheel...but further inland but i think they may still be closed...
cook's corner would be a nother interesting place to meet in OC. its a like bar/resturant, mostly bikers but if we go 4 or 8 trucks wouldnt be bad, plus there is a nice lil dirt road we could have some fun on too. (Families dont wory there is a big sign that says "families welcome" on the outside. just one more idea...
Cooks corner would be a mess these days. Weekends are a zoo anymore with all the wannabe's trying to play badass biker. Original Mikes is a fun spot but they are very hit and miss on weekends. Seems like they always have events going on the weekends. Food is good though! There's an Acapulco's on Beach Blvd just north of Garden Grove Blvd that also has one of those "Autobaks"? parts stores next to it. Just in case we just got to have one more toy for the truck. There's another food place there but I can't recall the name right now, maybe someone else knows?
There is an Angelos On Anahiem Bl, just south of Ball Road if I remember correctly. Usually a lot of '50's cars there. Haven't been down that way in 4 years though, don't know what kind of activities they have on the weekends.
Rincon sounds cool, when I get the Ranger up and running, I would love to drive that one of these days
I have never been to Cook's corner, but I have driven past it quite a few times when I used to work in South OC. I would not recommend that place for a family get together though.
Cook's corner is not what it was back in the old days. Like Jim said, it's now pretty much populated with posers - still probably not a good family place though. It's too bad, because I've always liked that part of the county - though it's all built out now.
every saterday there is a car show/coffee and pastries at the ford building in irvine (the oen with land rover, astinmartin, volvo...or what ever is left)
free to car and spectators, there is a lot of nice cars there from old trucks to new farraris and mustangs and everything, they sell coffee and pastries there too. it runs from like 7 am tell about 8:30 or 9am, no registration just show up and if the cute girl at the drive way likes your car you get in, if she doesnt you park in the parking lot(also free) and walk in. they have a web site something like www(dot)cars&coffee(dot)com, also go and look on youtub and search for cars and coffee there are lots of vids. the building is off the 5 freeway at alton (right next to the Irivine Spectrim)
