so i have an 86 f-150 with fuel injection. it will only start if i hold the gas to the floor and then only sometimes. it acts like it just getts a spert of fuel to act like its gion the start but then dies. if i does start i cant let go of the gas. i had it on the dyno but it said bad cap or bad ground on the computer. im wondering if its the computer or maybe the tps. any suggestions. thank you
Did you check the grounds to the computer? I believe there is one leading from the battery neg, that has a connector in it that is famous for getting behind the battery and getting corroded.
By the way, if you are holding the gas pedal to the floor and cranking a fuel injected engine, you are actually turning the fuel off. If the rpm is below a certain number, and the TPS is wide open, it puts the computer in a "clear flooded engine" mode and turns the injectors off.
