460 weind stealth intake question

I just received the weind stealth 8012 intake manifold and I noticed that the water pump return fitting missing. It was not brocken off in shipment. Where can I get the fitting?

I do not mean the water temp/radiator feed line. On the front face of the intake there is two holes. One taped for the heater fiting and then the one I'm talking about is beside it and is not taped. It is in line with the water pump and the water pump has a fitting that faces the intake manifold. Ahead of time, thanks for the help.

There should be a plastic bag with a metal tube in it.
This tube presses into the hole without threads.
If you don't find it the hole can be tapped and a threaded fitting installed.

I am almost done rebuilding a 69 460 for a 77 F-100 with a blown 302. It will take me several months still before I can fire this bad boy up. When I do I'll update this post aprox. 6 months from now.

another great intake manifold to use is the offenhauser 360 degree intake, it's a intake for the C.J. heads but it will work just fine when it is bolted up to standard 429/460 heads. all you use are the C.J. intake gaskets and that's all. this is a very good intake for low end torque. just thought i'd pass this along to everyone. C.J. later.........

460 weind stealth intake question

Hey SWALL,

Wherever you check, don't check Ford! The idiots at Northpoint Ford just told me they don't know where I can get it and furthermore some numb-nuts in the parts department there, told me he doesn't have an oil-filter on his truck!! All I could do is leave the place, with my head shaking in despair. And to believe some of these guys drive on the STREET with us...

do yourself a favor...tap it, and install a thread-in fitting, it works better in the long run, not to mention having to worry about it leaking. btw, the stealth works pretty good, a bit low on low-end, but makes up for it in mid-range and top end. hey, laptopgeek, did you say you went to north point ford, central ark? I've had dealings w/ them too....none good!

I'd say tap it too. I just put in a Stealth intake on my 460. I also did not realize that they actually sent a nipple for the water pump return until I had already bought another one and put it in. In retrospect tapping the hole would have been the best idea. As for the performance of the Stealth intake, I think it is the best street intake available. Of course for all out racing a Victor intake is best but as far as both torque and hp go, (on a street engine limited to around 6000 RPM's), the Stealth is the way to go.

Mavman - yup - Northpoint Ford in Atlanta. Must be something about the name. I SWEAR...the bozo in parts was trying to convince me that "his" truck didn't have an oil filter and was going to have the ***** to tell me just leave the filter off!! He sent me to Napa Auto Parts and they told me they didn't know what I was talking about with the inlet tube - get this...the Huckleberry there told me to use a freeze-plug to PLUG IT OFF!!

Do you fellers see why I get so aggravated with these bozos in Georgia? Hey - does anybody know of a dealer somewhere who KNOWS what they're doing? Please let me know - I'd like to send some business their way...

That's funny. The dealership I went to immediatley knew what I was talking about. They didn't have one in stock, but could have one the next day for me. The parts guy knew the part number off of the top of his head. They called it a "drive-in nipple".

hey laptopgeek, as far as dealerships in georgia go, check out alan vigil at southlake....rated in the top 10 for parts and service...at one point their parts was open 24 hours a day, mon-fri and 8a-12mid saturday....and the dude behind the counter even knew the part numbers for a set of bushings for my clutch rod off the top of his head...and every other part i needed. i walked in there one night at 1:45am(was fixin the a/c) and he rattled off the parts right off...cant remeber his name, but i've always had real good luck down there. hate that this is so long, but i was truly impressed with them.

LAST EDITED ON 29-Jun-01 AT 09:09 PM (EST)[p]Mavman, you said the stealth was lacking at low end...does that mean its improvements werent as much at low end as at mid and high? or was it actually worse than the stocker?
