Hi all, ordered 6637 and have a couple of ?s. I have a K&N filter on truck now and when doing 6637 I want to look at turbo and check for damage and clean if needed. Will it hurt if I use some carb cleaner on wheel if it is dirty? Was wondering if there is anything else to check out besides play in wheel and chips or dings. If anyone can think of anything else please let me know. Thanks in advance, Dave
I had taken my turbo off and it was filthy from using the K&N, so I took it to a specialist (turbo torn apart already) and he said to clean it thoroughly with parts clean, then wash completely with hot water and high pressure blow it out to get all particles out of the 2 piece constructed housing. You really don't want to fool around with getting any big particles in there especially if you have a lot of miles on it. Also, the wheel may have a tiny bit of play due to the fact it rides on an oil "bearing" so to speak.
It has 123,000 on it and not sure about turbo, bought it 2 mths ago. I have added gauges and the DP. It had the K&N on it when I got it and have heard so much bad about them on a PSD so thought to replace with 6637. Oh and Pete's pre-filter of course. Thanks Dave
Sounds like a good time to do the CCV Mod and remove the IC boots and tubes and clean off all the oil residue. If you reverse the dog house doing the CCV Mod have new O-rings on had. Sorry, forget the size. I got them at Napa.
