i just did a lower end rebuildwith a new cam and timing set put it back together check several times during process to ensure i wasnt binding everything spun free i attached tranny and then it took a little effort to spin but didnt seem like anything unusual put the engine and tranny back in the truck turned the key and it spun slowly and it has a good battery could this be because the engine is tight with new parts ; basic timing set wrongr because of a mistake that i am unaware of
its a 1979 460 and i did not replace the rings as there was only a few thousandths of wear all i did was replace rod and main bearings new timing set;new cam and put new external parts
my 8 yr. old daughter turned the engine with a pipe wrench after i assembled the engine but before i bolted on the tranny
Did you ever pull the pistons out of the cyl's?
Otherwise, this sounds normal.. My 460 took me at least 100 ft. lbs to turn over when new... easily more than that. I just hope you made sure your bearings and stuff had a decent coat of oil on them during assembly. Good luck.
