Some helpful information

Just to help out my fellow FTE enthusiast. When you are changing the oil on a truck that holds almost 4 gallons of oil, remember to take the little drain plug out of the bottom of the catch pan BEFORE you open your fumoto valve.... Your welcome.

We now return you to your regular scheduled programing.....

Steve

That's why I have a full open pan that way I don't have to remember anything. Just open valve and let it go. Well I do have to remember to put the pan under the truck.

I'll bet Steve has an oil stain in the driveway!

I got one of those black plastic drain pans, too, and I've left that little yellow vent plug closed, too. It has the same effect as not pulling the plug in the bottom of the pan.

And...

I've had that gigantic oil stain, too!

Birds of a feather....

;-))

Stain is an understatement.... Lake is a better description. Called the wife and told her to bring home some kitty litter from Target. Well by the time she got home it was getting really close to the gutter.....

I use a 5 gallon bucket. I just lift my driver's side an inch or so and it slides right out. I snap the lid on and down to the recycler. They are used to people with a couple of milk containers half full. I never fail to get the sideways look from them when I show up with 16+ gallons.
It was much easier when my neighbor, three doors down would burn it in
his shop heater. But, he moved and took his heater with him. That S.O.B!

Here'e another little tip for ya....when you are doing a fuel filter change, before you cycle, make sure that the yellow drain valve is CLOSED.

My neihbor said" youshould close that valve now." I said" I'll get it when we get back."

I didn't. I cycled the key. I made a big mess......

You know you can put your finger over the hole in the oil pan while you pop the air vent open to let the drain pan catch up. I don't have any oil stains on my driveway. But that could be because it's a gravel drive and it's easy to just spread more gravel over the top of any oil stains.

Glad to hear I'm not the only one who's forgotten that bright colored flapper on a black catch pan.

Jason,

I just knew I wasn't the only one who ever did that.

That old mop bucket fits perfectly under the truck without having to lift it up.
