Recently bought a used 01 Explorer Limited (my '00 caught fire in December).
Problem: I'm gradually picking off a few minor issues one at a time. This one has to do with the door locks. Everything works well, except that unllike my 2000, the locks on this one do not activate when you put the truck in drive or reverse and start moving.
I miss the sense of security knowing the doors are locked automatically, although I can lock them manually. Any help would be appreciated.
On older models that is known as Autolock and can be turned off or on at the keypad. I don't know if yours is the same. The steps to turn on or off are in the owners manual. If you need the owners manual go to the following link and register - it's free and you can get all the owners manuals and find out if you have any recall issues.

Stupid me!
Apparently the same fuse that was causing my rear defroster not to work had something to do with this. Changed the fuse for less than $4, and whammo! Problem solved.
Thanks Scucci!
