holley-over rich

holley 4160. over rich at idle. Turn the idle mixture screws in and it doesn't die. Strange part is, when you shut the car(sorry it's on a car) off, fuel pools on top of the secondary throttle plate. It is in need of a rebuild, but this threw me for a loop. Ideas?

There is a piece of debris in your rear needle and seat. Remove it, blow it out and reinstall it. Adjust the fuel level just below the sight plug on the side of the bowl.

when I set the floats, it seemed to be holding a good level. wouldn't it just pour out of the sight plug if there was debris in there?

Well, it would trickle out, depending on how large the piece of debris is. Probably pretty small. That's the only way the fuel will get high enough to drip into the throttle bores.
