Straps are great, and you can spend big money on a large one, but eventually they break.
I now use this style rope that I pick up locally from this shop.
Check this link and look about half way down. There is a brief caption as to what it is.
Can't beat this stuff, and it is soft on equipment while still very effective. http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2075770/3
i dont care to much for those ropes......they stretch WAY to much.....somtimes you need a good hard hit to get out.....with those most of the time the truck trying to pull the other out will just get sling shotted backwards....

Those will hit very hard when you drive them hard enough. I hit a GM 3500 SRW 4x4 hard enough to rip his reciever in half, tear an aired up tire off of a rim, and snap a tie rod end, all in one rip.
It is that energy that stores in the strap that allows a smaller vehicle to tear a larger one out of a sticky situation.
I have found that my six inch straps hit a little hard, and is tough on equipment.
Preference I guess.
As long as it is not a chain, I am sure we can agree on that, lol.
Chain is the only way to go! Get you some good 3/4" grade 8 stuff, and give it heck.
Really those ARB straps look nice, but expensive!
I waited until the Pro comp strap went on sale w/free shipping and I got the 3"x30' rated at 30,000 lbs for $30. I still haven't used it.... I usually just use a 4"x20' strap, don't know what brand it is though. Or if I know it won't take much a little 2"x14or so....much easier to clean and hook up.
I have a 50' casing pickup sling that I got off of a oil rig. It is soft braided cable and rated for 50,000 lbs. Yes 50k. It works good and it was free.
That Pro Comp strap is a lot cheaper for sure! I'm gonna keep searching. I'm not a fan of chains at all. They are loud, bulky, cold in the snow, and dangerous.
if your willing to spend that much for the ARB take a look at these 6 inch x 30 foot. 60,000 lbs capacity. http://www.rigidhitch.com/pages_main.htm
then click in the "O" catagory off road tow strap.

No kidding. That thing is beefy!
I want a strap that will last forever.
So bigger may be better for me.
Maybe just a 3"X30' would be fine though?
