help!

I have an 05 F350 and i have it for sale.After sitting for a couple of days or a week when you crank it none of the guages work and it surges going down the road,then after 10 minutes or so the guages come on and it clears up.whats the deal? any ideas?

don't thinks it's the batteries, correct me if i'm wrong but the bats are out of the pictures once the truck is started. could be the alt, bad ground, but the surging is somewhat confusing. I guess ckeck the bats, one at a time (disconnect one and check the other), check the voltage once the truck is running. The bats should 12v each and just over 14v with the truck on. post back with results. good luck

I was thinking that if they are run down enough, the glow plugs could be dragging the alt current down until the batteries got some charge on them.

One of my best purchases since I began driving diesels (in 1986) was a battery load tester. Easy to use and saves a lot of time in troubleshooting. Helped a lot of folks who would only be looking at voltages and wonder why the starting problems.
