ok. fpr is on the right side of the fuel bowl. there is a 19mm brass bolt on the fpr, top front corner. put a towel under it. take it out. be careful not to loose anything. then use a pair of needle-nosed pliers to reach in and pull the spring out. it will look like the spring from out of an ink pen. lay bolt and spring on top of your fuel filter housing. then, use a pencil-style extendable magnet to stick in the hole and a small triangular piece will come out that is about 1.5 inches long. place a 3/16" ball bearing in the little hole. tap it lightly to make sure it has seated well. place it back in the hole being sure the end you put the ball in goes in last, and that it fits in its triangular groove. put your spring in. then the bolt. make sure the spring is resting on the little nipple you have made with the bb. then put in the bolt. the spring will go in the center of the little bolt where there is a little protrusion off the end of the bolt. making sure it all stays in place push your bolt in. easy, no cross threading! USE PATIENCE. it may be hard to make seat. tighten and your done. oh ya put a lil oil on the o-ring on the bolt to keep it from tearing.
Increases the fuel pressure, you want between 65 and 80 lbs, I understand that sometimes the spring gets weak and this will bring up your FP. Also, I hear it gives slightly better throttle response and helps in better fuel delivery. I did it on mine and topped out at 80lbs, I didn't see any real improvement...
so when i put it all back together do i use the bb and the triangular piece or just the bb and does anyone have any pics with arrows showing me where its located lol
Jim:
There is only one 19MM brass nut on the drivers side of the fuel filter.
Un-screw that brass cap.
Remove the spring.
With a magnet remove the triangular piece.
There is a hole in the triangular piece.
Place a BB in the hole.
Place the spring back into the hole.
Slip the triangular piece back into the FPR.
Make sure that the triangular piece slides into it's own seat.
Place the 19MM Brass cap back into place. Notice that there is a little "Tit"
in the center of the cap, make sure that the "Tit" is centered into the spring.
Screw the cap back into the FPR body making sure that you do NOT X-thread it.
Without the triangle piece IT WON'T WORK! Put the BB INSIDE the triangle piece. There is a hole in it that the spring sits in. Put the bb under the spring INSIDE the triangle piece.
