89 F150 Questons
Questions:
1. It is a four speed. Are those over-drive trannies?
2. It is rusted over the rear wheel well. Coulsd a body shop sut it out, bondo it and fix it permanently. If so, how much $$$.
3. If I test drive it, how could I test the 4WD. It has manuel hubs.
4. This is not meant as a daily driver, but what kind of gas milage could I expect when driven easy?
5. Does anybody have a link to an article that list all the specs and otions for the truck?
6. Would the XLT have a tachometer?

1. the four speed is not an overdrive. I believe it has a granny gear.
2. they are all rusted over the wheel wells. you could fix it yourself or have a body shop do it. The price would vary greatly. Call a couple of local shops. The should be able to give a rough estimate over the phone given that this is a common problem.
3. Finding a gravel or dirt road would be best for testing the 4WD. Lock in the hubs, put the transfer case in 4X4 high and take off for a little ways. Stop, punch the accelerator a little (gravel road works best here) and see if the front wheels are digging in. It will feel different.
4. My 302 gets about 10.5. Others here do better.
