thermostat

Where can I find out what degree thermostat my 05 F350 has installed from the factory? It is a 6.0. I just installed an Edge Insight and it looks like the thermostat opens at 185 on teh Insight reading I would like to know if this is an accuratte reading or if the insight is a few degrees off. Thanks for any input.

I think that's fairly close. I was going to say 195*, but my truck runs 182-188 on the IDS scanner, so I bet yours is right on.

Thumbs up Sounds right to me, too

My Quadzilla Commander reports my ECT @ or near 185· when fully warmed-up

Thanks for the information. My local parts store said it was a 192 to 195 thermostat. so I feel pretty confident in the readings. I can always add 5 to 10 degress in my mind to make sure it stays cool enough when towing in the summer.
I currently have ECT, EGT, Boost and trans temps on display. I just wanted a good base line before I reload my Spartan tunes.

Will the temps change a lot in the summer months especially on EGT? Will I need to run another stock baseline in June?

Thanks

I am no expert, but it was my understanding that running hotter is better for diesel engines. I realize that there is a breaking point for when you are really working with loads, towing, etc. Am I right? If so, what is a "better" running temp and what thermostat gets that for you?

im not sure about the 6.0s but when i had my '99 7.3l i installed an aftermarket 203deg T-Stat to replace the stock 195deg. did not notice a difference but in theory it would be better.
