"Damn close" won't cut it. It has to be spot on to run right. jd
10-4 well when i said damn close i mean its right on as far as i know but the problem are is that the timing marks are on the inner timing cover which is not there on my truck thats why it took me so long to get it right ive looked at other ford rangers same year and got it done right i mean ill turn the motor twice with a socket and all the marks are still where they should be but i mean if anyone know where the marks go i would be happy just to double check cause i know im not near perfect so i problly got something just a tooth off but if ya know anything that will help and another thing is i hooked up a computer to the data port and nothing came up at all like the comp wasnt working on the truck but i find that kinda of wierd but its a new comp i aint all sure bout that and i really dont think thats a problem since i still have fuel and spark and everything so i dont know i love ford but sometimes i just wounder why its soo hard to fix
One of the camshaft teeth has a triangle on it. The triangle will point to the 5 o'clock position, approximately. The back timing cover has three marks in this position. The triangle lines up with the center mark.
The aux shaft will have a diamond on one of the teeth. The diamond goes straight up and aligns with the diamond mark on the back timing cover.
One tooth off is approximately 13 crankshaft degrees, that is why it is critical. jd
well i got all the marks right went back and double checked so thats not a problem i think i would out what the problem is i think the gear on the back of the crankshaft pully moved on me when ever someone was trying to break the bolt i aint sure cause i got a 95 and 2.3 and all the marks are the same and the tooth with a wide gap is not far from the tdc on the crank pully and on my 98 its way off like about 5 o clock when on the other its about 1o clock so i dont know cant find a new one anywhere found a used one at a junk yard cant get it till monday though but i dont know if thats why it aint runing i think it has a good part of why it aint runing
