OK..I have a horn issue. My horn does not work, when you press on the steering wheel. But it works when u activate the alarm??? or lock the doors??. Ok I have power tot he steering wheel..horn button. it works and have power going throught it. Obvisouly the wiring to the horn is good if it activates with the alarm. here is my question has any one run into this issue? if what did you do? Also, does any one have a schematic on the wiring so I can see were the wiring from were the wires from the horn button goes from their/ Any help would be greatly appreciated since my inspection is due next month.
Made this repair on a Town Car. The horn switch is inside the Air Bag assembly($800.00). The switch on the Town Car was shorted, but it doesn't matter whether it is open or shorted since it cost $800.00 to buy a new one. I removed the air bag and drilled a small hole thru the upper steering colmun. Cut the wiring harness going to the horn switch. Soldered some wire to the harness and passed it thru the hold. Attached the wire to a doorbell switch($5). If your horn works with the alarm and relay, horns and fuse are OK. You problem is the control side coming from the switch(horn button). You can remove the air bag and disconnect the connector going to the horn button. Use a jumper and short the connector terminals. If the horn blows the horn button is defective.
