they have never worked since i got the truck. all fuses are ok and all the other lights do work. im thinking it could be something with the switch that turns on when i put it into reverse. its a 95 f150 4.9 shortbed. any ideas?
Check your light bulbs first.
I bought an 84 Dodge aoubt 2 years ago. The low beams were both burnt out, all the parking lights, the brake lights, tail lights, not sure about the back up lights.
If the bulbs are good, check to see if you have power at the socket. If not then start tracing it forward.
my 95 e 250 does this once in a while-wiggle your shift lever-if that does not work check bulbs -then neutral safety switch-if all else fails check the bulb sockets-may be bad-seen it happen before-well never both at once!!! it could happen!
theres no power going to the light sockets. tommorow i got some time to work on the truck and ill check the NSS. ill get back to you guys tom. any1 here ever replace or have any ideas for what to do with the switch before i go out and buy a new one
im now 90% sure its the NSS but i am having a hard time finding it and the haynes manuel doesnt say much at all. where is it located and what does it look like?
There is no NSS on the M5OD. ONLY a switch for the backup lights. There IS a clutch safety switch (pressure switch), but no NSS. The only switch on that tranny, if it's an M5 will be the one for the backup lights.

where is this switch for the back up lights? im thinking of just rewiring it right now to a toggle switch
