Well Brownie run great still need smog but want to run one more tank of go juice through her. The wife likes her too Thats a big plus for me i'm sure you guys can relate to that it keeps Brownie out of the same category as ol'e blue my harley blue gets called all kinds of names mainly that F@&$ING W#@$E In the garage lol with Brownie it's different my wife says stuf like hun put a gear drive in her and a set of headers a 4bbl carb so on and so forth. I wonder where did this woman come from? What did you do with my wife?
Any way i need some suggestion on gear drives for a 1988 5.0 H.O. motor.
I also need a 4bbl intake manifold and carb if anyone has any use stuff i could buy let me know before i dive off into the big books and spent a bunch of money.

Hey Earl, no reason to drop the bucks on a gear drive, just run a good double roller ike a Cloyes/etc...it will outlast the rebuild and even if it stretches and you lose a degree or two of cam timing in a 150K miles...what the heck...a little more topend is a good thing
Plus, the coolness factor of the whine will wear off pretty quick.
Now, Pete Jackson makes some "quiet" gear drives if you want to look into those, but there is really nothing gained by running one IMO, on the street.
PS...seems the "used" market at the swapmeets for dual plane SBF intakes are in the 100.00 dollar range..I've seen better pricing on Craigslist though.
I'd agree with Mike on that one. My buddy has a Pete Jackson "noisy" gear drive on his 69 Nova and a blower on top of that. All that noise is cool for a while but after about 15 minutes in the seat it starts wearin on ya. Also, if there should be any valvetrain issues guess what isn't going to give any slack? I've always run the true double rollers and I haven't had an issue with them. Heck, I used a Summit brand one on my duster and it never gave me a lick of problems. If you do end up getting a gear drive I'd stick with a good name brand like Pete Jackson or Milodon. I've heard stories of broken gears with some of the generic ones.
