1977 Really?????
It could be who ever owned the truck previously, might of needed certain parts, and didn't mind mixing or matching the years of truck to complete his or hers project.
I have a 1975 F100 4x4 converted with a 1979 short bed. I liked the way the gas filler was tucked into the bed.
As a final check, check out the frame vin as uncle Mil1ion posted.
I have seen other members change out there grilles for newer or older style grilles too.

I just cant believe someone paid $3400 for it at a dealer and before that it was a $200 junkyard truck. If these old trucks could talk I bet they would have some wild stories.
