I did a search first but didn't really find the answer I was looking for.
I've changed fuel filters on other vehicles before but not my excursion yet. I have the filter and tools to do the removal/installation and the ability. What I need to know is do I really have to unplug the pump relay/pressure switch on the passenger side under the kickplate? All I've done in the past was to make sure I took to gas cap off to relieve pressure.
I would unplug it. It cant hurt right? BTW, i shadowed a mechanic when i graduated from HS. We were workin on a pickup and he had to change a numb of things including the fuel filter. He just unscrewed the thing and replaced it. Didnt tough the relay/ pressure switch.
No you do not need to unplug the relay or pump . Just swap it out as you would others. MAke sure you have the right one before starting . lol ( just kidding)
Yep... I got this from our friend Monsta a few months back:

I also popped the gas cap too. It worked like a charm.
