I Have a 55 f100 panel that were going to put this jag ifs in. its out of an xj6. I don't know if this is against the rules. But instead of jumping back and forth all over the threads, I'm willing to pay if someone that has done this swap. exactly per betum what was done measurements, and pics. I'm in a time crunch and have all the tools, just don't want opinions. But solid good working information. P.M. me if you want or email me. ghostinktat@yahoo.com I'm middle aged and don't mess around lol. thank you in advance.

I put a 77 jag ifs in my 51 & i have a302-aod a few things that i can tell you is
the chevy wheels line up with the lugs but the center hole is to small,i found a guy scrapping out a jag & i bought all 5 wheels from him for $ 100.if you are going to use
a 302 it will be a little eazier to in stall than a 351 (please dont put a chevy in it)
if you use the 302 a pair of exhaust manifolds from a 91-93 lincoln will work out great for you, also i used a steering linkage from a van, those universils work out great, also you will need a double sump oil pan,i also used a radiator from a 79 dodge pick up
and electric fan. i have been using my truck now for about 3 weeks & boy does it ever feel good it handels great & rides nice too, glad to be as willie nelson says
" ON THE ROAD AGAIN" good luck with your build & you made the right choice to o with the jag ifs. Bob

A number of us on the forum have installed the Jag IFS in the 48-52. A few have installed it in the 53-56. The frame rails are pinched in forward of the firewall such that the Jag "falls under" the 48-52 frame rails. 32" wide in 48-52 and 34" wide on the 53-56. It will be necessary on your truck (34" wide) to notch the frame rails or notch the Jag crossmember. Holmsey in England had a website documenting his work on a 55 (as I remember). It is referenced somewhere in this thread. 48-52 location measurements will not help you. Hopefully one of the guys that have installed the Jag in the later trucks will chime in.

my ifs is from a '74 mustang but I did put in a jag irs and one thing I can tell you is dont waste your time trying to save a couple a bucks and use the jag coil overs. I found out quick that it will ride like a brick! the jags are HEAVY and their springs are way to stiff. put (4) QA1's on my rear and it rides like a dream.

I was impressed at how easy it was to install the jag ifs in the 49. I soft mounted it instead of welding it in solid. 2 bolt holes in the frame for each of the rear mounts, 2 holes for the torsion bar hold down clamps and notched some 3" square tube to make a carrier for the front arms. 6 hours from start to finish and that was with measuring a hundred times to make sure it was all square. I want to say thanks to David at Everyday XJ for the IFS and the spare parts.

This is a link to another forum i'm a member on , and although the installs are not in ford trucks you should be able to get some good info from it .
The jag ifs is so versatile and easy to install it is widely used here in Australia .
I have one in my 47 ford coupe and my 56 f100 will get one as well when i can get to it .

48Steel has some good pics on the jag install. I have some pics in my gallery under IFS install but I don't have the pics of the front arm carriers made from the 3x3 tube downloaded yet. Basically you cut the front and the back out of a 4" long piece of 3x3 square tube. I left an inch at the top and cut 3" out of the bottom. Drill a 3/4" hole thru the tabs that are left once you figure out where the arms sit level and then weld it to the frame. Done.

List of Jag IFS Installs-Moderator Help!
I just finished pulling the IFS and IRS from a 1979 Jag XJ12 this past weekend.
Made the decision to buy the Jag for the parts based on those that have posted previously.
Was going to weld in an IFS from a Ford LTD but this looks much easier and fits better too.
Looking everything over it looks like the swap will be very doable.
Add me to the list as I will be cleaning up the IFS and IRS, rebuilding Calipers, and replacing a few bushings to prepare for installation this summer.
What did you all use to paint the two units?
I was thinking KBS coatings or Black Spray Paint (RustOleum) - all most no rust on any of the parts - just want it to look good and last for a long time.
