Cheapest tire website

Well I've decided on my next set of tires, Toyo A/T 285/75/R18 and I want to order them soon. I am wondering what websites you guys have used to order tires from. I'm looking for the cheapest place. So far treadepot.com has them for $230 a piece with free shipping. Thanks for any help.

Have you tried tirerack.com? Good deals too.

Last set of tires I got, Goodyear Silent Armor, all told with shipping and local installation, I got them cheaper by about $20 each, installed, new valve stems (the right ones), balanced, free 5K mile rotations and rebalance if needed, and the privilege of going into the guy's shop and yelling at him if they screw it up.

All this from a local shop, been in business for 30+ years in the same location in Lindenhurst.

Just called up, and said "I want these tires - how much?"

Always figure mounting and balancing into on-line purchases unless you're buying the wheels and tires assembled.

Years past, I always went the tirerack.com route - much cheaper than local. I could always save at least $100 on my '97 Cougar or '96 t-bird tires (225/65R16 Goodyears - Aquatred sometimes, high-perf Goodyears other times)

But this last time, around June 2007, the on-line guys weren't that great compared to the locals. I think the time of on-line tire-buying is getting a well-needed kick ...

Most tire stores will match online deals if they have them in stock. We did that on my wifes truck and got them the same day. Plus the guy at sears also through in mounting and balencing. we saved a 100$.

I used treadepot.com for my last set, best price and free shipping. But check your Ford dealer mine had a sign up they'd meet or beat the best price you can get.

I baught my toyos off of 1010tires.com They were good. Very easy to deal with. Since I baught them the prices seemed to have gone up.

I agree with Art. Give the local tire shops a chance. They work hard to stay in business and not just operate a website and ship from warehouses across the country.

I did the internet route because at the time. My size toyos were on national back order and there was no word when they will be shipped from Japan. So a few internet sites still had a few so I got them.

Been shopping Toyos myself, and onlinetire.com was the cheapest I found. But my last set was $20 cheaper per tire at the small local place than I could find online.

I've got the same tires on an '06 250 psd. I would suggest looking for something different. At around 7,000 mi. I replaced one that was out of round and found out that the rest were already 1/3+ worn. Now mind you I don't drive hard at all and I only tow a 6,000# travel trailer about once a month or so. Looks like I'll only get 20, maybe 25,000 out of these. For the price I think you can do better. That's my only complaint about them though. They look O.K. and are pretty quiet on the road, but don't seem to stand up to the torque from the diesel very well. I know this doesn't help with your question, but just giving my experience and maybe could save someone a few $ in the long run.

Really?

I would respectfully disagree with that. Mine have about 12k miles on them and look like brand new. I would definitely buy them again.

Well I ordered them from treadepot.com. I paid 940 shipped. I have a friend who works at a tire store owned by his grandfather and he quoted me 1258. HE said he would mount them for 60 so I'm saving 258. Hopefully these will last. I wanted something a little more aggressive but I wanted a taller tire and didnt want to change the width and this was my only choice. I will post pics when I install them but I am going to drive the old tires as long as I can... or just do a couple burnouts

I'm sorry for reporting my personal experience. I paid just under $800 out the door and do not plan on buying them again. I know that there are always different experiences, that's why I voiced my opinion. Maybe I'll have better luck with another brand, but maybe not, that's the chance you take sometimes.

Bernie- I thought I was doing O.K. too, until I had the one replaced and there was a huge difference in wear. And after a couple thousand miles now, you can still see the huge difference.

Momorrimis- That's exactly the same reason I went with them as well. I wanted something in about a 33" tire with a decent tread and an "E" rating. This was about the only tire that offered all of that. I was reminded today why I wanted to stay with the "E" rating. Had a full pallet of cinder block in the back of the truck, makes her squat pretty good, and had to put it on the freeway for a while. Don't want a blow out then, I want a tire that can handle the load. The tread life, in my experience, is my only complaint so far. Please let us know how things progress for you. Real world experience is the best test of things and can help everyone. Best of luck!

Just for grins, I went and checked the last three tire sites mentioned, and none of them could beat the deal I got locally on Silent Armors, even when including 8.625% NY sales tax.

I guess I know where I'm going for the next set of tires for the Cougar ...

IDK if they have your Toyo's but, www.nebraskatire.com is pretty cheap on tractor tires and Buckshot Mudders for my truck. The shipping will get you if you don't have a place to accept freight delivery.
