Purchasing in US?

Purchasing in US?
Maybe this should be posted in the Canadian National Chapter ...
But just wanted to see if anyone has purchased a vehicle in the US since the dollar reached par.
I'll be purchasing a 1 ton crew cab and I'd like to know:
1. If there is a $$ advantage.
2. What the import duties and regulations are.
I appreciate your comments!

Man I had a ton of info on this before and just cleaned it off of my computer. Do a google search on the subject, and you will come across a great website with all the info you need about getting it across the border, i just cant think of the websites name!
As for the cost advantage, theres a ton of variables.
What kind of truck are you going to get?

Finally got around to pricing trucks on both Canadian and US Ford Co. sites. I priced out a moderately optioned F350 XLT v10 4x4 crew cab.
In the US = $40 445.
In Canada = $47 435. (We're still paying more - why am I not surprised ...)
Difference = $7000 Cdn, or about 15% extra (assuming Loonie is at par)
However, the difference is less than it would have been six months ago by about $6-7 k, probably after people realized how much they've been getting gouged and started buying their vehicles in the US.
My deliberations:
If I purchase in the States, whether I buy in Canada or the US I still have to pay GST and PST at the border. Therefore, I will need to find out if the import duty will be less than 15% in order to see any benefit. Something tells me it's 6% - so based on 6% I'll save $4200.
But I'll have to purchase new warranty coverage and get a vehicle inspection, so I'll end up saving nothing. Probably end up costing me more after I add in travel costs, accommodations, etc.
I'm certain Ford Canada has already ran the numbers to ensure that there's no advantage to purchasing in the States. I don't know if my assumptions are correct, but I think it's bullsh#t that we've been getting gouged for so long, and I find it frustrating that we STILL have to pay more than Americans despite our dollar being even. And I'll be damned if I don't go down fighting. Do you know of any Ford employees that would be interested in giving me their X-pricing number?

I'm sure the auto makers are well aware of what is happening. What I would be interested is what Canadian dealers pay as opposed to US dealers for the same vehicle. Do the Canadian dealers pay the same and gouge us or do they pay more.
Some manufacturer's are not allowing dealers to sell out of their state. I know some of the foreign dealers will not let US dealers sell across the border.
I guess if you jump through all the hoops its just not worth it any longer.
I was looking into 5th wheel prices a while back and on some models the difference was up to $10000.00 and higher.
