gm fuel pump question

I know it's not a ford question but I need someone to confrim my thoughts. I've got a 97 gmc safari as a work van, changed the pump last March and all worked well. A few weeks ago it died, not much fuel pressure. Changed the filter and took a reading at the fuel rail and got 55# w/key on stayed the same cranking. Shot it with some either (for giggles) and it took off and ran. Runs great, but if you shut it off you have to either it again to start.
Is it possible to have enuf run pressure but not enuf start pressure? I thought the gm injectors 4.3 was 55-62psi start? Thanks!

With the 4.3, it is possible to not have enough pressure to start, but have the ability to run. SOund stupid, but they need more perssure to start than to run.

I don't know if the 4.3 has the same problems with the poppet valves that the 5.7 has, but I know my 5.7 has issues with the injectors. If it starts on ether, that generally indicates that the fuel isn't getting into the cylinders. At this point, I'd be looking at the injectors.

Does it have two fuel pumps, a low to pressurize and a high to run the vehicle?

Only one fuel pump, in the tank I checked my 98 (we've got a fleet of about 8 of these) and Start I'm at 62-65 psi
