I'm researching the possibility of using a 900cfm Holley Pro-Jection set-up on a 460 swap for my 1988 Bronco that currently has a 351 efi/C6 combo. I'd like to hear the good, bad and the ugly with regards to peoples experiences with the Pro-Jection set-up. I plan on giving the 460 a good rebuild with approx. 9:1 compression, Comp Cams Extreme 4x4 cam, Stealth intake, headers, MSD ignition, etc... What's the word on the Holley's tunability on engines with the usual go-fast mods.
I'd like the drivability of fuel injection if the Pro-Jection is reliable. Seems like everyone I ask has a different opinion and I'd like to get as much info as I can before dishing out the bucks for this set-up vs a carb.
First, check with your state's motor vehicle agency. Here in California, the DMV doesn't allow conversion of carb vehicles to fuel injection. It's considered to be "tampering" by the smog bureaucrats. Yet another example of the infinite stupidity of government. If they really cared about smog, they'd give you a rebate for converting to FI.
