Alternator headaches
I am currently restoring a '72 F100 thats seen better days. I bought a universal wire harness and everything seemed to be going good. Until the batteries die. I have already determined the problem to be in the alterantor. I have 4 terminals on the back of mine. (1) GRD=ground, (2) BAT=battery, (3) FLD=???, (4) STA=???. What are the STA, and FLD terminals for and where should I wire them to. Thanx J.R. The sta is stator connector, this should go to your electric choke. The fld is a field connector and should go to the voltage regulator. Make sure all your ground cables are good especially one from engine block to cab firewall. Hope this helps.
