In this case I believe it`s an alkali slough so it maybe pretty rusty.

Yeah if it is a alkali slough it might be screwed, never know though, might get lucky.

but its nit like the cab is sitting in the slough, just whels or axles or frame.

3 hours trying to get it started, battery is brand new. FI is a piece of crap! From what i have been told it has never sat in any slew. period. lol

Something isn`t right Chris, run some injector cleaner in the fuel tank or maybe a tuneup is badly needed? Our Ranger starts pretty well in the cold and the 86 Mercury was awesome starting at -29 the one time I forgot to plug it in.
This vehicle in the slough about is about a third submerged, I`m not sure if it even has a frame and expecting wheels might be pushing it.

it came 3 days after i spent 700 on a total tune up of the ignition and fuel system

Then I`m stumped, we`re missing something here.
Usually a fuel injected 302 starts very well..

That is weird, something has got to be wrong with your truck. My 89 with the 302 efi starts in just about any weather, as long as the battery is good. Most of the time I dont plug it in either.

Where are you guys road tripping too?
