Had the ABS module replaced under warranty at 4,000 miles because it was making a grinding noise at start up.
Truck now has 8600 miles and the module is grinding again. No longer under warranty (it's an 03). Is this part something that goes out every 4,000 miles? I doubt it, is there a common cause of this failure? Of course, I would like Ford to do this on their dime. I know that isn't going to happen, just wondering if this is something I will have to plan for every so often.
Yes, it is the self test but mine was replaced because I was told that when it growls, the motor is going out. I found the paperwork on the replacement. It also said the ABS on the rear brakes were not working because of the defective motor, which I don't recall being the case but apparently they tested the brakes.
You might want to get that checked just to be safe.
