Chances are someone or something pulled too hard on the line at one time and the little retaining clip inside is bent. I had that happen on a fuel filter once, it was a real PITA. Really jam that disconnect in there and try it, if it doesn't work you'll probably have to get a thin pick and try to straighten the prongs of the clip out. I'd replace the clip once you get the line off.
I hate to say this but, you might have to give the tool a bit more force to get it to disengage the fitting. I like to push the fuel line against the tool so that the fuel line goes "past" the "hump" on the Filter/pump. Pushing the line towards the pump/tool/filter gives just a little more clearance for the prongs and room for the tool to do it's job.
Well, I don't think this disconnect tool is pushing the pins far enough out. Im gonna get a different one tomorrow. It only has to be just a little bit thicker and I think it will be fine.
It was just that type of disconnect tool. That type tapers at the end and I think that it just wasnt pushing the pins out far enough. Bought one that doesn't taper and the line popped off first try.
