HI, FROM SASKATOON--THE GREAT WHITE NORTH. SAY, I HAVE JUST PURCHASED A 2000 F250 SUPER DUTY AND I HAVE NO IDEA HOW TO ENGAGE THE LOCKING HUBS?? ALSO, I AM WONDERING...CAN YOU SHIFT FROM 2WD TO 4WD WHILE ON THE FLY??
if it is a esotf then the hubs will auto lock if they are in the auto position, if you have the manual t-case u will have to get out and turn the hubs manually, yes u can shift on the fly up to 55(per the book) i personally wouldn't do it over more than 5 or 10 or try to be at a stop. if the auto hub function is malfuctioning(commom on older superduties) then u can turn the switch and get out and manually lock the hubs
If you have a manual system and the front hubs are locked, you can shift into 4H at any speed up to 55 MPH. You must stop and shift into nuetral to shift into 4L.
It'll have answers to all of those nagging questions like "What is that dinging noise?", "Can I tow 12,000 KG?" and "What transmission fluid should I use?".
